The gender equality award for businesses and organisations in science, engineering,
technology and the built environment

The SET Fair Standard recognises and rewards good practice in gender equality
through a straightforward on-site assessment process undertaken by trained assessors.
Developed by the UK Resource Centre for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology
(UKRC), the SET Fair Standard enables businesses and organisations to recognise
and celebrate progress in developing inclusive workplaces and organisations.
Who can take part?
The SET Fair Standard is customised for:
- corporates and large organisations
- small and medium sized organisations
- professional institutions
- research facilities and councils institutions
- network organisations (such as sector skills councils)
- colleges and places of further education
What does it measure?
The Standard assesses continuous improvement, charts progress and celebrates
achievement across:
- leadership and management
- organisational and workplace culture
- participation and progress
- reputation and responsibility
Gender equality matters – it values and nurtures talent, builds a more inclusive
and diverse workforce and can lead to better business performance.
Let UKRC trained personnel assess you as one of the following:
- committed – you have a robust foundation to support gender equality improvement
- achieving – you have a well developed strategy and policies that are delivering
significant improvements in gender equality improvements
- outstanding – you are a recognised leader in sustainable gender equality practices.

Our experienced consultants offer tailored training, advice and guidance to help
you. They will also talk to you about our nationally renowned CEO Charter and
other consultancy services – all of which can be usefully included in the SET
Fair Standard process.
What do you get?
Organisations that achieve the Standard are able to display the SET Fair logo
in all their publications and on their website, as proof of dedication and commitment
to gender equality. In addition, the UKRC helps you with local and national publicity
– part of the process of your celebration setting you aside from your competitors.
