Networking Feb 09

Connect Networking Event
24th February 2009
The Queens Hotel, Leeds
Event Summary

The third Connect networking event in Leeds involved several women in SET networks from across Yorkshire & Humber and beyond.  The event offered a unique networking opportunity for the leaders of women in science, engineering and technology networks to come together and share good practice regarding leadership skills and qualities.

Delegates received information about the Connect project and wider ways to engage with the UKRC. Katie Perry from Daphne Jackson Trust also shared information about their highly successful fellowships scheme. Delegates then participated in speed networking, sharing business cards and information about their organisation.

Fay Best from Leeds College of Technology presented about her experience of founding the Women’s Engineering Network at the college.  The session involved an activity where established networks explored challenges of running their network, and organisations interested in establishing networks focused on their starting points.  The two groups then collaborated to share experiences and apprehensions. You can access her presentation and work sheet here.
