Katalytik - Science Sisters The aim of this project is to establish a network of parents (non/part time working mothers) who have some science or engineering education and training. The project will also work with school science teachers and coordinators to reconnect these women to STEM and enrich science learning in schools with female role models and hands on activities.

British Computer Society The Women at Bletchley Park Bletchley Park was the central location for the UKs code breaking efforts during the Second World War. It is not well-known that women made up the majority of the personnel and made a significant contribution to the code breaking. This project, organised by the BCSWomen networking group as part of the BCS 50th anniversary celebrations, will collect the oral histories of the Bletchley women who worked on the first computers and ensure their experiences and contributions are not forgotten.

Concrete History Ladies Bridge Most history starts with a find. So what happens when you start with an urban myth? Today riverboat pilots on the Thames tell the story that Waterloo Bridge was built by women in Second World War. The Ladies Bridge documentary explores why these bridge builders and 24,000 other female construction workers have been written out of history.

Cambridge AWISE Networking and Mentoring Manager The aim of AWISE is to help retain and enhance the participation of women in SET fields in both industry and academia, this is achieved through networking meetings, access to mentoring as well as gathering and disseminating information.

Eva-Lotta Jansson - Photographic Exhibition of Female Miners in South Africa The aim of the project is to document women working in the mining industry in South Africa. The project is to provide insight into what the situation is like today in regards to equal opportunities in post-apartheid South Africa - and for the resulting photos to show women in these roles both as a celebration and an empowerment tool. Wired Sussex Women in ICT Podcasts Funding was provided to research, develop and produce a series of six audio interviews with a broad range of women working in ICT in roles where women are largely under represented. The interviews focus on career development and offer first hand insight, advice and inspiration for women looking to develop their careers to the next level, return to work or embark on new careers in ICT. The interviews are available on the Women in Media and SET websites and released one a month starting 16th May 2007 as free podcasts.

Jan Harding - GASAT 12 Conference
The grant was awarded to hold the 12th International Conference in the University of Brighton in September 2006.

Outcome: The conference was held on 3-8th September 2006 at the University of Brighton with 89 participants. The "Home Group" sessions were especially appreciated. These enabled participants to meet daily in small, mixed nationality groups, to discuss conference highlights and issues. Student reporters and newsletter editors produced a daily newsletter which was eagerly awaited and read. The Institute of Physics report "Girls and Physics" was launched and each participant given a copy. The UNESCO report on Gender and Science Education was previewed and participants encouraged to look out for its publication.
University of Bath in Swindon Engineering Taster Days To market and deliver a series of engineering taster days at Wiltshire College and their motorsport training centre, targetted at girls/women within 6th form, college students, unemployed/employed and community groups. To provide a range of information, engineering awareness and problem solving activities together with industry guest speakers. To promote careers in motorsport engineering with support from local companies.

Business Link Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire Milton Keynes Science Festival - Women in Science Strand
This project will deliver a strand of activities (public debates, events, demonstrations etc) at the 2007 Milton Keynes Science Festival that will stimulate and facilitate womens engagement with SET; raise aspirations of women to learn about SET; enthuse women about potential careers in SET; and raise the profile of employers that have developed innovative practices for women in SET.

University of Wales Swansea Women Shaping the Future of Wales Several awareness and profile raising events and networking activities designed to increase the visibility, empowerment, and participation of women in the SET sphere, especially at senior level and to broker engagement and buy-in by influential others both inside the University and linked to local industry and business.

Athena SWAN Charter a UK wide scheme that recognises excellence in SET employment in higher education.
The Diversity Practice Different Women, Different Places The aim of this project is to gather primary data to explore the perspectives of BME women - gain an insight into their lives, examine key influences; understand what motivates and drives them at workplace and their constraints, to success and progression. It will also examine their external resources and additional needs to enable them to realise their full potential.
