Who do we work with?

We work with women across the UK, in all areas of science, engineering, the built environment and technology (SET). This includes women:
  • just starting on SET studies at college or university
  • looking for their first, second, third SET job...
  • thinking about taking a break, but wanting to be sure they can return
  • having time out, and hoping to get back into SET work
  • wanting promotion and development
  • entrepreneurs and women in small businesses
  • leaders, and women who are taking on positions of leadership
  • women wanting to encourage and help other women in SET

How can we help you?

Our Code of Practice outlines how we support women at all levels of their SET career and what we expect in return.

We work closely with women who have had a career break, offering one-to-one support and the opportunity to meet other returners. If you are looking to return to a career in SET, a good place to start is the online returners' course we have developed with the Open University (see advert, right) - known as the T161. The 10 week course can be completed flexibly so that you can fit it around your other commitments. The next course starts in October 2009, and you may be eligible for a UKRC bursary, as the course is free for women returners. You can read more about some of  the women we have previously supported by downloading our new Return case study guide

We also help women progress in their careers and take on leadership positions. We offer:
So there are many ways we can help you to be active if you want to do more.
If you can't find the information you need, please contact us - we look forward to hearing from you.

We run one day courses and events across the UK on a wide range of topics and practical skills, including career planning, job seeking, CVs, networking, leadership skills and more.

Our training and events are a great opportunity to think about your career, brush up your skills and meet other women.

The Services for Women team works from offices in Bradford, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Oxford. You can phone us on 01274 436485.
